Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the study before you participate.
No. This study collects no personally identifiable information — no name, email, phone number, or student ID. Submissions are assigned a random anonymous ID. There is no way to link a response to an individual after submission.
Absolutely not. Your responses are not shared with your college, department, or any faculty member. Data is analyzed only in aggregate form across the full dataset.
No. PHQ-9, GAD-7, and PSS-10 are screening instruments used for research classification. They are not diagnostic tools. Only a licensed mental health professional can make a clinical diagnosis.
Because no identifying information is collected, individual responses cannot be located or deleted after submission. However, you may exit at any point during the survey without any data being recorded.
No one. Only anonymized, aggregated statistics (counts and averages) are ever reviewed. The research team never accesses individual rows during analysis.
The full survey — demographics + PHQ-9 + GAD-7 + PSS-10 — takes approximately 10–12 minutes to complete at a comfortable pace.
The study is conducted by CalmConnect Research Lab under the supervision of the principal investigator. It is conducted as a non-clinical research fellowship. See the About Lab page for full details.
Anonymized data will be used to generate national and state-level prevalence reports, submitted to peer-reviewed journals, and deposited on the Open Science Framework (OSF) for reproducibility. Data is retained for 24 months per research protocol.
If you feel distressed, please reach out to iCall (9152987821), Vandrevala Foundation Helpline (1860-2662-345), or Snehi (44873383). These helplines are free, confidential, and available 24/7.
There is no monetary incentive. However, your participation directly contributes to one of the first large-scale datasets on student mental health in India, which can influence institutional policy and national mental health agendas.
